Thank you for sharing an incredibly important message ... I, too, have a decades long friendship with a high school friend who is more than my sister as well. How fortunate we are! I thank my lucky stars every night and every morning I am thankful that I can wake up to another blessed day.
Jaque, I am so pleased you enjoyed my writing. It is so wonderful you too know the value of a friendship that lasts decades. Sometimes these friendships can fill spaces in our hearts that weren't filled by family, so we make them family. I am thankful I have friend-family/soul sister and so pleased to know you do too. Yes...how fortunate we are!
Chellie- you write with the mind of a Buddhist- mentioning mindfulness, meditation and yoga. But I find most Buddhist writing lacks the heart that you express so vividly. Your sense of caring for others is found only in those few who have mastered the art of loving others (and self) with the understanding that God resides equally in all of us. It is important to realize that it is only circumstances that create enemies. The same people who are killing and being killed- under different circumstances- could share a wonderful friendship. It is sad that we as a people are so good at creating circumstances that lead to hate and war.
Tim, your words and wisdom touch my heart. Thank you for recognizing the attributes I like to share (mindfulness, meditation, yoga). Yes, we are all so very similar. It is also important to note that we can each be different. Respect, kindness and understanding with a hefty dose of curiosity can help bridge the gaps we see and feel. Thank you for reading.
Wow, hope you got your luggage and in one piece! Thanks for sharing your adventures and timely messages about this conflict. Your insight and observations bring us right inside the events. Thanks!
There are so many gems in what you have written. thank you for sharing your story and what you have learned over the years and are now learning. You are a terrific friend. I see it in everything you do, but am beyond impressed that you traversed so many thousands of miles to enter a country at war to be with your friend.
"I have learned to rearrange my priorities in life. People first, things last." Great reminder, which too many people either forget or never learned.
Now the important thing (she said facetiously), Did your luggage arrive?
Thank you Ginni, such a lovely comment to my post. I am honored you are my friend and have learned so many lessons valuable lessons just from knowing you. You are a treasure to me. The answer to your questions...A full 9 days without luggage, but it's back. :)
