Friday Exhale
Exhale. Your roots are still growing.
The heat changes more than we can see.
Looking outside, the visible reminders of the relentless heat are everywhere.
Flowers have faded.
Herbs have struggled.
Some of my plants needed to be cut back.
As I trimmed away what was no longer thriving, I was reminded that perhaps this is how growth often happens in our own lives.
Sometimes life becomes so hot, so dry, so difficult that parts of us need to be pruned. We let go of old habits, expectations, fears, or even pieces of ourselves we thought we needed to keep.
Though it can feel like loss, it is often preparation.
Just as I trust my plants will grow back stronger, healthier, and fuller, I am learning to trust that the same is true for us.
So, as this week comes to a close, I invite you to exhale.
Release what no longer serves you.
Trust what is taking root beneath the surface.
Rest in the quiet work of becoming.
If life feels hard right now—like standing in the heat without water—remember this:
There are parts of you developing that you cannot yet see.
May your weekend bring the gentle rain your soul has been waiting for.
This is our exhale.
Here is one of the more beautiful versions of Pentatonix, please take a moment to enjoy this.
Author’s Note
If this touched something inside you, I’d be honored to hear your reflections.
Whether you’ve lived through chaos, rebuilt your voice, or carried wounds no one else could see, your story matters. Sharing reminds us that we are not alone in the slow, powerful work of becoming.
If this piece resonated, I’d be grateful for a like, a comment, or a share.
And if you’d like to walk this healing journey with me, I invite you to subscribe.
With gratitude,

This is exactly what I am feeling this morning, finally getting a break from the Great dome and the wildfire smoke. Finally able to enjoy the beauty of the season again.
